House takes up film bill

Minutes ago, the New Mexico House took up HB607 & 622, otherwise known as the film incentive bill.

The legislation would limit to $45 million a year what New Mexico can pay to TV and film productions through the state’s film production tax credit program.

At this moment, Rep. Brian Egolf, D-Santa Fe, has proposed changing the bill to raise to $60 million the limit of how much the state could pay out in a year. Rep. Dennis Kintigh, R-Roswell, has risen to debate the proposed change.
